Lieury Diamond to be Renamed Skeeter Field
Last week NMMBA Executive had the opportunity to sit down in front of the town council and request a name addition to McGillivray Memorial Park. The request was to name the diamond Skeeter Field and it be utilized as a Fastball Diamond for NMMBA Girl's Division.
Our goal is to utilize the diamond 5 days a week with all the girls teams ages ranging from U9 through U17 based on registration. Also, incorporate a TBall and Jr Rookie team to allow a better rotation for our internal play.
I am very pleased to announce that the town council approved the proposal and moving forward, the diamond will be called Skeeter Field.
Additional plans for the spring is forthcoming, adding to existing sign at the entrance, new signs on the field.
I believe that this will allow our girls division to have some ownership and empowerment having a field to call their own. I hope everyone is as excited as we are for the potential that will continue for next season.
